La isla del diablo
La historia de Djoflaeyjan
transcurre en Reikiavik en los años posteriores a la Segunda Guerra
Mundial. Los ejércitos de ocupación británicos y estadounidenses han
dejado sus búnkers, que se convierten en el hogar de cientos de personas
de clase baja que llegaban a la capital durante esos años. Djoflaeyjan
cuenta la lucha y, a menudo, los detalles humorísticos en la vida de
los habitantes de los búnkers en aquellos tiempos difíciles. 
Los
vikingos islandeses "encontraron" América en el siglo IX, pero, como
dijo Oscar Wilde, tuvieron el buen gusto de volver a perderla. Mil años

Devil's Island
Djoflaeyjan takes place in Reykjavik in the years following World War
II. The British and American occupation army has left their bunkers
behind. They became homes to hundreds of lower-class people who were
pouring into the capital during those years. Djoflaeyjan tells the story
of the struggle and often humorous life of people in the bunkers in
those difficult times.
Icelandic Vikings "found" America in the
ninth century, but as Oscar Wilde said, they had the good taste to lose
it again. A thousand years later, in World War II, the Americans
occupied Iceland, but they were so set on not losing it again that they
kept a military base there, long after the war ended. They moved out of
the capital, though, leaving behind barracks for the benefit of homeless
Icelanders…
