Lee Marvin es el malhumorado agente de cobros Nick Devlin, contratado por el mafioso de Chicago Jake para cobrar un pago atrasado de un magnate ganadero de Kansas (Gene Hackman). Lee Marvin is surly collection agent Nick Devlin, who is hired by Chicago racketeer Jake to collect an overdue payment from a Kansas cattle baron (Gene Hackman). When Devlin travels west to get Jake's money, he finds the cattle king mixed up in complex drug deals and pimping enslaved women.

"I recently read about this film online and realized I had to watch it. I'm glad I did, as it's a fun, gritty bastard child of Hitchcock thriller, Don Siegel/Arthur Penn/Walter Hill-style pulpy crime, and goofy exploitation films. It's beautifully shot and has a lot of interesting set pieces. It showcases the talents of both Gene Hackman and Lee Marvin, along with the feature film debut of Sissy Spacek.
