Ditirambo, periodista e investigador con poco trabajo, asiste al
entierro de Julio Urdiales, un conocido novelista recientemente
fallecido de un ataque al corazón. En el cementerio, su viuda critica e
increpa a los presentes y llena la tumba de su marido con una gran
cantidad de billetes antes de que la cubran con tierra. Allí mismo, la
viuda saluda a José y lo conduce a su lujosa residencia para explicarle
lo que quiere de él. Se siente resentida y desea vengarse de una mujer
especialmente atractiva, Ana Carmona, por la que su esposo estaba
obsesionado. Ofreciéndole a Ditirambo una fuerte suma de dinero quiere
localizarla, averiguar todo sobre ella y luego, destrozar su vida. Para
la viuda, su marido nunca se rehízo de ese idilio frustrado que fue lo
que realmente lo llevó a la tumba. José consigue localizar a Ana, que
ahora vive en Barcelona con el mafioso Jaime Normando. Al poco de
conocer a la joven, acaban enamorándose y tienen que huir de Normando y
sus pistoleros...
Considerada por algunos como la primera película moderna del cine español, Ditirambo recupera a un personaje al que Gonzalo Suárez ya había dado vida literaria en su novela Rocabruno bate a Ditirambo.
Este peculiar alter ego del autor, interpretado por él mismo, es un
héroe atípico que, con la impasibilidad de Buster Keaton, no sonríe
nunca, dice siempre la verdad y lleva a cabo de forma implacable cuantas
misiones le encomiendan.

Ditirambo, an unemployed journalist and private eye, attends the
funeral of Julio Urdiales, a well-known novelist who recently died of a
heart attack. At the cemetery, his widow criticizes and rebukes those
present and fills her husband's grave with a large amount of banknotes
before they cover it with earth. There and then, the widow greets José
and takes him to her luxurious home to explain what she wants from him.
She feels resentful and wants revenge on a particularly attractive
woman, Ana Carmona, over whom her husband was obsessed. Offering
Ditirambo a large sum of money, she wants to track her down, find out
everything about her and then destroy her life. The widow believes that
her husband never recovered from the failed love affair, and that is
what really drove him to his grave. José manages to locate Ana, who now
lives in Barcelona with the mafioso Jaime Normando. Shortly after
meeting the young woman, they fall in love and have to flee from
Normando and his gunmen...
Considered by some as the first modern film in Spanish cinema, Ditirambo brings to the screen a character to whom Gonzalo Suárez had already given literary life in his novel Rocabruno Battles Ditirambo.
This peculiar alter ego of the author, played by himself, is an
atypical hero who, with the impassivity of Buster Keaton, never smiles,
always tells the truth and relentlessly carries out all the missions
entrusted to him.

Le tomé cierta simpatía a este film al hacerle los subs en inglés hace trece años.
Ahora comparto este rip que es bueno, aunque demasiado contrastado el b&n para mi gusto.
